History of Nahargarh Fort :

Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, also the founder of Jaipur city built Nahargarh fort in 1734 on Aravalli hills, and was renovated in 1868 by Sawai Ram Singh, In 1880 Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh renewed Nahargarh fort into heavy runaway. He ordered Raj Imarat who was in charge for stately building projects that time to plan enjoyment fortification within the fort. This pleasure place was named as Madhvendra Bhawan. Vidhyadhar Bhattacharya, the architect of Jaipur, constructed Madhavendra Bhawan with fine-looking interiors, wall paintings and stucco patterns.. It is believed that the fort was built in faith of spirit of Rathore prince, Nahar Singh Bhomia. However the spirit was calmed the templ;e was dedicated to it which was constructed inside the fort. Nahargarh Fort was formerly known as “Sudarshangarh Fort”. Soon after, the fort was offered the name, Nahargarh meaning “Dwelling of Tigers”.

Important Battles:-

Nahargarh Fort was never attacked but, but it witnessed some major historical events, like the agreements with the Maratha forces which attacked Jaipur in the 18th century. This fort gave accommodation to many Europeans in this region, including the British Resident's wife, during the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857.

Nahargarh Biological Park:-

Nahargarh Biological Park is one more tourist attraction that is placed in the environs of Nahargarh fort. This organic park is extended up to 7.2-sq-kms of the Nahargarh sanctuary (50-sq-kms). This park claims fine granite and quartzite rocks. The plant life or vegetation of the area is mainly represented by the humid dry and humid thorn jungles.
