Tulsidas Jayanti is normally celebrated every year in the dignity of Goswami Tulsidas. It is held on seventh day after ‘amavasya’ in the month of Shravan. In 2015, Tulsidas Jayanti will be celebrated on 22nd August, Saturday. Goswami Tulsidas was a pronounced worshipper of Lord Rama and signified his dedication by emphasizing on the bhakti of the Lord Ram in his works. He not only achieved success through ram bhakti, but also endeavored to bind everybody with the morals of Lord Rama. He also formed Ramcharitmanas in dedication of Lord Rama in Hindi on the base of Valmiki Ramayana.

Life History Of Tulsidas

In the past, Tulsidas was a great follower of Hanuman and Lord Rama. He was an originator of Ramcharitmanas, and great believer of Lord Rama. It is supposed that one has to take numerous births to achieve this honor which Tulsidas was able to achieve in his life. He was worshipped and respected by his followers and believers. He was born in 1589 in the Rajapur (Chitrakuta), which is a village on the banks of Yamuna river in the Uttar Pradesh. His parents were Atmaram Dubey and Hulsi.

Tulsidas was an unlucky child and has experience several problems and sorrows during the days of his childhood. Later he got married to Ratnavali. He loved his wife very much, and one day because of this he had to listen to severe words uttered by his wife saying, “that if Tulsidas was even half as dedicated to God as he was to her body of flesh and blood, he would have been rewarded of his suffering”. Tulsidas left her immediately and decided to dedicate his life in the worshipping of Lord Rama. He also got wisdom from the Guru Baba Narharidas.

He consumed most the time in the Chitrakoot, Ayodhya and Kashi. He composed several scriptures while roving from one place to the other. His compositions include: Janakimangal, Ramcharitmanas, Ktiwali, Geetawali, Vinayapatrika, Barve Ramayana, Hanuman Chalia, etc.

Compositions of Tulsidas

Tulsidas was a great scholar of Sanskrit language and he also composed several scriptures in his life. His most marathon composition “Ramcharitmanas” is still read by the people with huge faith and devotion.

Tulsidas as a community guide

Tulsidas tried to eliminate the misconducts through his compositions. He used to censure the social issues which was prevailing in the country and addressed people about their negative effects. He made several attempts to raise up the exercise of true worshipping, defense of brahmins, and honor of the ancient scriptures. He desired to create a ram rajya, where everybody can live a peaceful life deprived of any malpractices. Several people tried to abolish his compositions out of jealousy.

Even now-a-days, Ramlila is held every year in different parts of the country. On Tulsidas Jayanti, people narrate verses from the Ramcharitmanas and his other compositions. He spent the last days of his life in Kashi and died in 1680 on Shravan Tritiya at the bank of Asi Ghat while reciting the name of Lord Rama.
